O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree...

On Sunday, we pulled out our 11 year old Italian Christmas Tree and decorated for the holidays. Poor tree, I think it's shedding as much as live tree that is still up in February. Sadly, I think this is the last year for our good 'ole Citta Mercato special. It's lasted us well. Adam had a great time "helping" me put it together. He kept grabbing parts of the tree and dragging them around the room. Mary kept oohing and ahhing and wanting to put on the ornaments. I finally had to put Adam down for a nap, just so I could finish the assembly process.
Mary did a great job putting soft, non-breakable ornaments on the tree. However, she has decided that Adam shouldn't be able to reach any of them, so she keeps moving them higher and higher and putting them either in the back or to the side. That poor tree looks a bit funny...and bare. After all the hard work, she decided she wanted to crawl underneath for a few photos like I did of her when she was 6 months old. Too bad Adam won't sit still long enough to pose beside her.
And finally, after nap time and a completed tree (as much as it's going to be this year), the kids admired the ornaments and the lights. Doug's waiting for Adam to do the "Elf" where he takes a running leap at the tree, holds on for dear life and topples the whole thing over on himself. Hopefully, I'll be close by with the camera ready.

Looks like a wonderful time in the Putthoff home. Maybe you can keep a branch of the tree to hang on your new one in VA and have a touch of Sicily when you move home.

Reminds me of the time Casey strung all the garland on the floor from the family room through the kitchen and into the dining room. Decorating ideas ARE in the mind of the beholder.

Putting up the Christmas is one of the true joys of kids of all ages!

how do they get more adorable? It's against science and reason.
