Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend took us on a 9 hour drive to Franklin, NC to visit my folks and their horse, er...I mean, dog, Daisy.  They have a beautiful home with an amazing view.  In fact, it's so incredible, we spent every meal out on the deck watching the hummingbirds, seeing the morning fog rise or the evening sun set.  Ahh, now that's relaxing.
I'll admit, I was nervous about both kids and their fear of dogs.  I had nothing to worry.  Daisy is the calmest dog I have ever met.  If she wasn't so large, I could have mistaken her for a cat.  She sleeps that much!  The kids loved her!
Mary was super excited about giving Daisy a bath and she had a great time spraying her (and Grammy) with the hose.  Wow!  That was cold water!
Saturday night, after a fabulous dinner and some play time, we headed to "Pickin' on the Square" to listen to some live music in downtown Franklin.  A band playing a mix of country, bluegrass and a little of the golden oldies was the entertainment.  They were surprisingly good...and free.  Can't beat that!  We found a small park nearby that had very few people to disturb, so we plopped down our lawn chairs, threw out some balls and let the kids fetch, I mean run around, and get all their wiggles out.  Whew, they had a LOT of wiggles.  (Of course, these photos don't accurately document their high energy levels, oh well).

On Sunday, we got to witness Grandpa become super duper old at his church (he was installed as an Elder :) )  Mary made us proud by being so good and sweetly sat on Grandpa's lap the whole time...except for stuffing his tie up his nose.  But, in her defense, she doesn't see ties very often.  Maybe she thought it was a really long handkerchief and was just helping him out.   She's so thoughtful.  Adam was...well, Adam, but the best he's ever been in church.  We will try to remember not to take toy trains with us next time.  There was a lot of "Whoo-whoo-ing" going on.
Time flew by way too quickly and before we knew it, it was time to hit the road again.  Thanks for the wonderful weekend Grammy and Grandpa!
 On the road again...

It's good to be home again.  Thanks to my Mom and Dad, we now have a dining room table and chairs.  Our house is slowly starting to look like a home.  Hope you all had a great weekend like us.
