Mary's 1st Ballet Recital

Today, was Mary's Day.  We wanted to make it as special as possible...and I think we accomplished that.  Our little girl is growing up too darn quickly.  I was so excited about today, but at times I found myself getting a little teary eyed seeing her dance and play with her friends.  I can only imagine the mess I'll be when she goes to school for the first time.  Aww, is it just me, or is she too stinkin cute?

The group had their faces painted.  I saw a sample of what they were going to have and it was a tiny butterfly next to one of their eyes.  This was no tiny butterfly.  I was really surprised Mary tolerated this.  A month ago, she went to a friend's birthday where there was elaborate face painting and she was too scared to do it.  Today, she marched right up, closed her eyes and didn't even whimper.  Wow.  She loved it.

Group shots in her "Ballet Star" and "Sunshine, Snow and Wind" costumes.  Two of Ms. Debra's classes were combined.  This is the 3,4, &5 yr old Tues./Thurs. class.
Hmm, maybe they should have had a tiny butterfly on the side of their face, some of the girls look kind of evil.  Oh well, the girls had a blast.  That's all that matters.
Mary loved her flowers.
Adam loved her balloon.
So excited that Doug could see her performance.  Love!

Since, this was Mary's special day, we let her choose anywhere she wanted to have a celebratory dinner. She chose McDonald's.  You know, because it has that "humongous M, for MARY!"  That it does, my dear.  She has always wanted to go to the one we saw near the Air Force base that has a playground.  Her wish was our command...and much cheaper than we had bargained for.
Look!  They both seem to have an affinity for over the top make-up!
What a great day!

Wonderful post, Kendra! Mary looks so grown up and confident. Sounds like a fabulous experience for the whole family.
