Mary has always hated getting water in her eyes, so hair washing time is quite a challenge. Before, she would just cry, but recently she's started standing up and trying to hold onto me and get out. I'm terrified she's going to slip. She also accompanies this activity with high pitched, wailing screams. I went to a local kids store with a friend and found this cool bath hat. It's designed to keep the water off the face when you wash her hair. Genius! I tried it that night, but she was already in the tub and kept pulling it off. Tonight, I put it on her BEFORE the tub, so she could get used to it. She wasn't so keen on the idea of something on her head, but tolerated it once she got in the tub and started playing with the bubbles. I went to wash her hair and of course, she saw the cup I use to pour water and started crying and stood up. If she would have calmed down, she would have noticed that it actually worked and no water dripped on her face. I was amazed. Yea! So I did a quick rinse and called it quits. Baby steps. Hopefully, she start to realize that no water is getting in her eyes and she can relax...and so can we. P.S. I hear Doug hated water in his eyes too. Like father, like daughter. I bet he didn't have a cute pink hat.

"Hmmm, I'm not so sure about this."
"I want to pull it off and Mommy won't let me."
"Ok, maybe it's not sooo bad."

The hat is great! Mary looks like a pink "statue of liberty"! I tried to create something like that the last time Josie was here! She also hates hair washing time! How about sending one to NC and GA??? (Justin also hates the hair thing!) Grammy just doesn't understand it!
Pat is right on target about the pink statue of liberty! That was my thought when I saw the photos.
