The Big Boy Bed

Little man's outgrowing the pack n' play.  He seems so cramped.  Today, I started the process of transitioning him to his big boy bed.  When we did this for Mary, we started at nap time as the "trial run" so it wouldn't be so different at night.  It took her 1 1/2 hours of coming out of her room, pulling everything out of her dresser drawers and constantly being told to go to bed, before she actually did it.

 Adam took 30 minutes.

I put him in bed and closed the door.  A few minutes later, he was standing in the hall.  I took his hand and walked him back to bed.  A few minutes after that, I heard him knocking on the door.  I once again, walked him back to bed.  He cried.  I left the room and let him cry.  After a bit, I went back and found him sitting in the middle of the rug (where his pack n' play used to be) holding his blanket and crying.  I picked him up, told him he needed to grow up and sleep in a bed like the rest of us.
I tucked him back in and he fell asleep...for 3 hours!

I'll be honest, I was a tad bit worried about tonight...esp. after the sugary dessert.  I tucked him in and closed the door.  Nary a peep.  It was a bit strange.  It can't be this easy.  Can it?  I shouldn't jinx it too early.  I should wait and see how his night is...and morning.  For now, I'll shake my head and wonder where my little baby has gone and admire the little boy taking his place.
