Showdown: parents vs kid

Cheerios on the floor, Doug nicely telling Mary to pick them up, she laughs and runs away. Uh-oh. Showdown. The battle of the wills. Who's going to give in? It's can't be the adults. It just can't. ...two time outs later and my getting involved gave us the result we wanted. It was so hard not to laugh at her stubbornness. We could tell she was really testing us to see how much she could get away with. I'll be honest, she's been sick the past 5 days and I've let her get away with a lot more than usual. Well, no more. She's on the road to recovery and that means she has to behave again. Round one goes to the parents!
